Both robots are proficient at removing surface dirt on carpets and hard floors and are able to move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we evaluated the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to rug.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including getting rid of any toys or clutter it may come across. It's also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is low it goes back to its docking station and automatically emptying its debris into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning where it left off. The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. After being connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world full of vacuums with cords that look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like a sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then releases cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and pick up large dust or crumbs. It has three suction modes to match the task that is being completed. The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. The claims of its marketing that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a common battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. It's enough time to vacuum the average-sized home but not enough to reach every area. (A second run is usually sufficient). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its benefits It's lighter and more mobile than the older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It's capable of sucking up all types of debris and sizes during our tests, and frequently goes over the same areas several times to give a thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice addition.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models like our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways in that it has fewer components that require regular maintenance, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and can charge faster.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled with your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on low-pile and bare floors.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a brand is seen on a variety of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the most popular robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence tech for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it didn't do particularly well in avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models that we tested, and this could be a deal breaker for some shoppers.
